Qatar:

Qatar introduced women’s rights recently, allowing women to independently get a driving license. However, It still has its issues like the guardianship system, where a woman needs male permission to marry, travel, and access reproductive healthcare.

26 women stood for the country’s first legislative elections. A historic event, but yet, none of those women were voted in.

Egypt;

In their music, Marina and Mariam Samir, sisters known as Elbouma, cover a range of subjects, from child marriage to racism.

The songs touch on issues such as child marriage to Female Genital Mutilation. The songs are a retelling of experiences told by 34 Egyptian women who participated in storytelling workshops between 2016 and 2017.

Ahead of the Climate Change Convention in Glasgow, the organizers of COP26 will host a day specifically to advance the increased participation of women and girls in climate actions.
