Global
Since 2021, global progress toward gender parity in political representation has increased by just over 1 point, to 28.5 on the “Women’s Power Index”
On the index, Nigeria has a political parity score of 8. Seven countries have gained over 50 points in their gender parity score: Australia, Cape Verde, Chile, Germany, Monaco, Senegal, and Serbia.

India
This week, four men were arrested in connection with the case of two women who were stripped naked, publicly paraded and allegedly gang raped in the Indian state of Manipur, captured in a now viral video.
The assault has been condemned by the prime minister, Narendra Modi, and the supreme court.

Chile
Chile has adopted and launched a Feminist Foreign Policy to promote human rights. Chile is now the first South American country to do so.
The Foreign Ministry will create a Gender Affairs Division to implement this policy in coordination with the work of other agencies.
The Chilean government hopes to address issues of trade, climate change, science, care, technology, and innovation.

The International Criminal Court has launched an investigation into the actions of the Sudanese armed forces and the Rapid Support Forces related to killings, rape, arson, and other crimes affecting children.

FIFA Women's World Cup
Banyana Banyana of South Africa conceded a late goal to lose 2-1 to Sweden in their opening Group G game of the 2023 FIFA women’s World Cup on Sunday.
This is Africa’s second defeat at this year’s women’s World Cup following Zambia’s 5-0 loss to 2011 champions Japan on Saturday.
Only Nigeria’s Super Falcons have secured a point at the tournament after their hard fought 0-0 draw with Canada.
