Pregnant Palestinian Woman Brutally Stabbed in Israel, Pronounced Dead
On Thursday morning, a pregnant woman was brutally murdered in Lod; the incident also claimed the life of her unborn child.
A footage captures the attacker assaulting the victim as she was en route to drop off her children at school. He stabs her multiple times before fleeing in a getaway car, leaving her bleeding in front of her children. Even though she fought back, the woman ended up with multiple stab wounds to the torso.
The woman was rushed to Assaf Harofeh Medical Centre, where doctors attempted to rescue her pregnant child by performing an emergency cesarean section. However, doctors shortly declared them both dead.
According to Israeli media, the woman's brother and father were eventually taken into custody on charges of murder.
The stabbing was characterised by Na'amat women's rights group head Hagit Pe'er as "domestic terrorism" and "a double murder of the woman and the foetus."
In a statement, Pe'er expressed the hope that the Israel Police will quickly apprehend this despicable terrorist and that Israel would ensure that he faces punishment, as is proper when dealing with terrorists.
The anti-violence Abraham Initiatives group reports that the death toll in the Arab community since the start of the year stands at 222, with the woman's death adding to that total. However, it appears that the figure does not account for the loss of her unborn child. There were 103 fatalities in the same period in 2022.
