Prof Lilian Orogbu Declared Winner of Awka North/South Federal Constituency

Prof. Lilian Orogbu, a candidate for the Labour Party in the Awka North and South Federal Constituency in Anambra State, has been elected.

Results were announced by Dr Uche Nriagu, the constituency's returning officer, on Monday night at the INEC Collation Center in Amawbia-Awka.

He claimed that Orogbu received 34,713 votes, which was enough to beat out Mr Obi Nwankwo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA, who received 24,814 votes.

The results for the remaining candidates are as follows: PDP,21,850, YPP,2047, NNPP,244, ADC108, NRM33, SDP43.

Prof. Orogbu, a lecturer at Nnamdi Azikwe University, made a statement in which she committed to providing her people with effective representation by the terms of her social contract with them.

She extended hands of fellowship to her opponents while reiterating her determination to bring about changes from the old to the new order.
