TechHER and Education as a Vaccine (EVA) Launch Emergency Response Fund for Sexual Assault and GBV Survivors

By Azeezat Okunlola | Apr 29, 2024

TechHer and Education as a Vaccine (EVA) are piloting an Emergency Response Fund for survivors of sexual and gender-based violence. The Fund provides a maximum of N200,000 within 30 hours of approval by a five-person committee.

The fund however, does not apply to cases from Abuja and Lagos given that they are looking to achieve representation from all the other states, although they have supported survivors from those states in the past.

The Emergency Response Fund is a pilot designed to test emergency SGBV support in Nigeria, providing a decision for survivors within 24 hours. As a funding response framework, the Emergency Fund seeks to provide quick access to funds and greater flexibility to enable responders to provide the much-needed comprehensive support for survivors and their families.

It also helps support the provision and continuity of essential and life-saving services for survivors of SGBV, including emergency health services, legal support, psychosocial support, socio-economic support, emergency housing, strategic litigation on women's safety in Nigeria, and any other necessary service to guarantee the safety and security of survivors.

Additionally, financial support for marginalised individuals and communities to access relief. protection and redress following cases of stigma, discrimination, violence, and related human rights violation is part of its objective.

An organisation, community group or individual can submit a fund request (fill out Form A or B) to the Secretariat stating the nature of the case, immediate needs, bank transfer details, and location of operation. Completed forms can be sent to: [email protected]
