The family and close friends of the late Shimite Bello Love, Special Adviser to the Delta State Governor on Trade and Export, have issued a heartfelt and urgent response following a disturbing development in the ongoing investigation into her sudden death.
While the official autopsy report is still pending, her husband, Pastor David Favour Love, who is currently under investigation, has made public claims suggesting that Shimite died of hypertension and that the autopsy has cleared him of wrongdoing.
The family categorically refutes this claim, describing it as “premature and grossly inaccurate.”
“The truth is that while Shimite did have hypertension, it was not the cause of her death. The facts suggest that there’s more to the story,” a family representative said. “The phrase ‘he has something in the cupboard’ raises alarming suspicions. We demand justice for Shimite.”
Shimite was reportedly found unresponsive in her home on Easter Sunday, foaming at the mouth. A family member revealed that her husband had allegedly locked her indoors all day, prompting concern from their maid and an emergency visit from her elder brother.
She was rushed to St. Luke’s Hospital in Asaba, where she was declared dead on arrival. Her husband was arrested at the scene.
Prior to her death, Shimite was a prominent public servant and entrepreneur, formerly the Executive Secretary of the Delta State Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency under Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.
She also contested the Oshimili North constituency seat in the 2023 PDP primaries and led The Quintessential Group, a conglomerate focused on agriculture, social enterprise, and solid minerals.
The family has asked the public to be patient and allow the investigation to run its course without interference or misinformation. They call for transparency, justice, and accountability in uncovering the truth behind Shimite’s tragic death.
