Six guys reportedly raped a married woman and assaulted her husband in a horrific event that occurred in Koppal, according to the police. The victim filed a complaint with the police, which led to the arrest.

The said incident occurred on February 8 in Gangavati, Koppal district, in a park next to a bus stop.

The six men allegedly began thrashing the victim's husband as the argument between the victim and her husband escalated at the bus stop regarding a domestic dispute, according to the police. The victim and her husband were reportedly quarrelling over the matter at the time.

"They dragged women, thrashed her husband, and one of the accused, Lingaraja, raped her," said Deputy Superintendent of Police, Gangavati, Siddalingappa Gowda Patil.

"After raping her, the gang abused and allegedly harassed the victim," DCP added.

According to him, the police have taken into custody Lingaraja, Moula Hussain, Shivakumar Swamy, Prashanta, Mahesh, and Madesh among the suspects.

A month earlier, a similar event occurred in the Haveri region of Karnataka, when a mob of men reportedly stormed into a lodge room, beat a couple for the "crime" of being together despite their differing religious beliefs, and then left.

The woman subsequently reported being a gang rape victim, according to the authorities.
