Women in Taraba State, having lost their husbands and children to bandit attacks, have joined the battle against bandits in the state.

Hauwa Lawal, a female hunter, claims that the bandits have caused much damage to the populace. She said that numerous women had lost their husbands and children and that multiple more had been abducted and abused by criminals.

She continued by saying that some regions of the local governments in Karim-Lamido, Gassol, and Bali are at the mercy of criminals.

Lawal reported that many of these crimes against women committed by bandits had compelled many women to join the hunter's group.

Habiba Isa was appointed as the head of female hunters for the Northeast region due to the bravery and tenacity displayed by women in their fight against bandits.

The female association leader said that female hunters are now given prominence by the male-dominated organization immediately after being installed by Umar Muhammed Tola as national chairperson of the hunters association in Zing.

She remarked that female hunters were brave and committed to aiding in the war against bandits, adding that they had previously made significant contributions to the fight against Boko-Haram and were now continuing those heroic deeds.

“We inherited hunting from our forefathers while many other women have joined the hunters association as part of their contributions to free our towns and villages from activities of bandits," she added.
