FG inducts Amusan, Oluwafemiayo, Brume, Oborududu into Hall of Fame

The Federal Government of Nigeria has inducted four female athletes into the Nigerian Women Hall of Fame.

On Thursday,  Minister of Women Affairs Pauline Tallen, disclosed this to the press during the reception in honour of Nigerian female athletes in Abuja.

Athletes honoured are Tobi Amusan , the World Record Holder 12.12 second 100 metres hurdles, Folashade Oluwafemiayo , Gold medalists Women’s Heavyweight Champion, para powerlifting.

Others are Ese Brume, Olympic World Champion African Champion in Long Jump,  and Blessing Oborududu , Olympic Silver medalist, Commonwealth Games Champion in wrestling. 

At the event, Hajiya Sadiya Farouq, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, described Nigerian women as exceptional and talented.

“Whatever sphere they find themselves, Nigerian women are very committed, talented, determined and resilient in whatever they do," Ms Farouq said.  “We are very proud of you all and didn’t expect anything less, the sky will be your limit as you continue to make us proud."

Tobi Amusan, Ese Brume and other female athletes had been conferred with national honours and N200 Million by President Buhari on Thursday. 

Nigeria won a total of 35 medals, including 12 gold, 9 silver and 14 bronze at the just concluded Commonwealth games and claimed the best position amongst African nations.
